EEOC and Fass/Darnell v. Wal-Mart - On September 19, 2001, a federal court in Tucson approved and signed a settlement reached by the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission ("EEOC"), the Arizona Center for Disability Law ("ACDL"), representing William Darnell and Jeremy Fass, two Deaf individuals, and Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. This court approved settlement requires Wal-Mart to, among other provisions, pay $427,000 to the ACDL, and produce and air a TV commercial featuring William Darnell and Jeremy Fass.
