Dunajski v. Keegan - In 1999, The Arizona Center for Disability Law filed a lawsuit in federal district court on behalf of a class of students with disabilities against the State challenging the Arizona Department of Education's failure to implement an effective complaint resolution procedure as required by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. The litigation was brought in response to concerns raised by a number of Arizona families whose children receive special education services. They reported to the Center that, even after their complaints to the Arizona Department of Education regarding their school districts' failures to provide services were substantiated, nothing changed. In March 2001, the Court approved the settlement agreement entered into by the parties.
